Itinerary

Day 01: Cajamarca – Leymebamba Museum

In the morning, we will go with private transportation (pick up 4x4) to the town of Chillo. Before arriving at Chillo we will be in Celendin Town, a beautiful popular village for its straw crafts. We will continue our trip crossing the Marañon Canyon; and then we will appreciate the change of the landscape and climate.

In the afternoon, we will arrive to Leymebamba in order to see the Malqui Center, institution dedicated to the archaeological and anthropological research of the old Peruvian Culture. It keeps more than 2000 objects and around 200 mummies brought from the mausoleums of the Condors Lagoon. The museum in addition exhibits ceramics, textile and weapons. Dinner and overnight in Chillo.

Day 02: Kuelap Fortress

After breakfast, we will star our tour to the Kuelap Ruins, a spectacular pre-Inca walled city hidden and extraordinary fortress in the top of a precipitous mountain, which served as political, military and religious center for old Chachapoyans; the dimension of this complex is still unknown as it remains partially covered by vegetation. Kuelap was discovered 60 years before Machu Picchu. Box lunch (included). Evening return to Leymebamba, overnight and. Dinner (included)

Day 03: Cajamarca

After breakfast, we will return to Cajamarca in our pick up 4x4. Lunch in Celendin. Arrive to Cajamarca and transfer to the airport or bus station.
